Local rebellious teenager Clotaire falls for his schoolmate Jackie – but gang violence leads him down an even darker destructive path. Malik Frikah, who plays 17-year-old Clotaire in this film, was a world champion breakdancer when he was 10. .. The film is very long and quite uneven between the first part, when the characters are teenagers, and the second part, ten years later. The young actors are fresh and genuine. Adele and François are top notch. Alain Chabat is a great teddy bear and, as always, you want to punch Benoit Poolvoorde. The background music really sets the tone for the 80s in the small French industrial town. Mostly British and American music, but so grounded in the era. You finish the film with a smile on your face. It’s not the best film of the year, but a beautiful and crazy love story. Despite being uneven, you follow Clotaire and Jackie all the way.
