Original stories set in the worlds of iconic video games are featured in this animated anthology series. Video games have made the leap to the screen in a big way, and we’re celebrating the genre with a closer look at over 50 video game adaptations into movies and shows. Clive Standen will reprise his voice role of Demetrius Titus, the main character from the video game Space Marine 2. The episode takes place after the events of the game. Referenced in Film Junk Podcast: Episode 973: Carry-On (2024). Expanding the medium of video games with talented fan-created content on an unlimited budget seems wonderful, right? Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is! The first 8 episodes were great, each encapsulating the universe they chose for it. I’ve seen critics saying they didn’t take any risks with the show. Have you seen the Pac Man episode? Because I have, and it seems to me they took a huge risk there. The show is stunning, every graphical style seems well chosen and mastered (as we would expect from the team of love, death, and robot) it bodes well for the future, hopefully allowing the gaming medium to expand even further. It is packed with Easter eggs without the hassle of the show pointing me in the direction of every detail yelling at me HAVE YOU PLAYED THE GAME? And in the world we live in, this is already amazing. This is the first time people who truly love gaming took a risk to expand the medium and please us, the fans. But the beauty of it is that even for people who never played the games, they can enjoy, understand, and empathize with the characters and this seems to me to be a great challenge they overcame. The show also has downsides, obviously some episodes weren’t as good as the others (I’m looking at you, new world). Yes, some episodes were short, Yes, some jokes weren’t quite right. I never said it was perfect, just that it was amazing. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming releases this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
